I had the privilege to have Riley Dhana and Indi Reef join me at my private property to have a jam and talk about all things producing and the music industry in general.
From the Northern Beaches NSW, they form ‘Bitter Citrus’ a soulful indie duo with a love for arts and hate for lemons.
They’ve worked to release three songs which can be found on all platforms including their new song ‘Lotus’ and their video clip for ‘Bittersweet’ that can be found below.
Riley describes the process with his new song ‘Lotus’ started with a whole week of working on new beats while Indi was away and when they caught up they tried out different progressions and rhythms to decide what was best. Eventually finding the right sound they created lyrics and went from there.
With 5 years of experience which began as a hobby and now includes a Cert 3 in audio engineering, Riley does all the producing for the group and is now looking to further his work by assisting up and coming musicians by listing his services on Achieved Music’s ‘Hire a studio’ page.
He describes Achieved as a great place for musicians to find producers at a cheaper price.
He also talked about musicians that are unsure if they are ready to record or not saying;
“You don’t have to have a full song ready or know exactly what you need as I am happy to assist and create ideas together. I’d start with things such as your influencers and what you would like to make something sound like and then work with melodies and progressions.”
Riley is happy to work with all genres and finds great satisfaction producing anything from Pop to Punk
